Ganbanyoku

Today I'm away from the kids for a morning and off to the hot stone spa, or Ganbanyoku as it's called in Japanese. It's kind of a sauna where you wear a cotton pants and top set and lie down on a flat stone bed. The room is dark and about 40 degrees. It's supposed to be good for circulation, ladies problems, digestion and so on.
You lie face down first for ten minutes then face up for five. Then you go to a cooling off room and relax. And repeat the whole process again for about an hour.
There is usually relaxing BGM, the room is softly lit and you must be quiet. It is absolute bliss. It will be one of the things I'll miss about Japan.
